In the Adelaide Hills South Australia, Apple and Pear grower Graham Schultz has been trialling the WoodShield posts in his orchard. He has been using the standard round 83mm post in lengths of 4.2m. With 800mm in the ground and 3.4m’s out he has created a ridged trellis for the fruit to grow on.
Graham utilised his old cypress pine posts as horizontal stays and pulled a net over the structure with no difficuty, this will keep the birds out before harvest. The trellis and net structure has already faced extreme wind conditions with no issues. All in all a great result.
